two concepts that have proven elusive for black people: truth and justice.
Like my ancestors, I am committed to creating work that seeks justice, not only for other black people but for humanity as a whole. This is the essence of our history. And in this world where women of color are either misrepresented, degraded, or simply rendered invisible, telling the truth about our lives is a revolutionary act. Ma’at represents the striving for harmony;she is indeed what is right, what is perfect, but as yet unrealized.”
