TERPSICHORE: Goddess of Dance, Greece

Terpsichore, born of Mnemosyne, emerged from her mother’s womb dancing. With her intrepid spirit, she consecrated a dancing ground near her birthplace on Mt. Olympus. Wrapped in clouds, she and her eight sisters, the Muses, tread with lovely steps the snow-covered path to their father Zeus’s palace, dancing and singing immortal songs. Their footsteps and music echo to earth where mortals absorb the mysteries of dance.

“Dancing is as natural as breathing.
Saying the un-sayable, expressing what words cannot.
Dancing touches us in secret places.
She is more than I can contain.
I yearn to pass it on.”
